About my Work:
I’ve been listening to Juana’s “Reyna ng Quezon City” a lot recently. So when we (the Visual Arts group) decided to stick with Women’s Month as our unifying theme for this online exhibit, it was the first song that came to mind.
“Reyna ng Quezon City” sings about a night out in Quezon City in the early 2000s. In our modern 2020s, the song has evolved to become a representation of self-confidence and a celebration of our individuality. I believe that’s what Women’s Month is all about — a month dedicated to our resilience and beautiful differences as women. Albeit cliche, I hoped to honor Filipinas as queens in our own right through my work.
