“There are four priorities for school systems: maintaining health and safety of students, staff, and the community; maximizing student learning and thriving; supporting teachers and staff; and establishing a sound operational and financial foundation.

In each case, we believe that issues regarding equity—that is, ensuring that the needs of the most vulnerable are met—should be front and center, both during the closure and after students return to school.”

Will it be a hybrid program and what will that be like?

SY 24-25 from July 2024 to April 2025 has different features compared to the hybrid program of previous schoolyears.

For all Lower School, 6s7s (Grade One) and special education classes, students are fully onsite Monday to Friday.

For the 7s8s (Gr 2) and older Middle School classes up to Upper to High School students, the hybrid program consists of four days of full on-site classes for most students with only one day fully online (Fridays).

Only COL students residing outside Metro Manila and surrounding provinces who were enrolled as COL students prior to this schoolyear are fully online with scheduled visits onsite within the schoolyear.

Well-implemented health and safety protocols will remain in place and preventive measures will be enforced with your cooperation. (see COL Hybrid Health and Safety Guidelines)

More detailed guidelines are provided for enrolled students. Parents should register with the School for Children Section of the website after enrolment.

These are the main components for 7s8s to SHS:
  1. There are four on-Site days when children are expected to be in school.
  2. Real-time Online Interaction with Teachers and Classmates via Zoom and /or Google Meet only for online Fridays.
  3. Asynchronous and synchronous Student work uploaded to Google Classroom for individual and group projects, tasks, assignments. These tech platforms and digital libraries like ‘epic’ that have been effectively used since SY 2020-21 will continue to be part of the COL educational program.
  4. Use of Learning Kits, books and compilations and art supplies.
  5. After-school programs (language or math tutorials, music lessons, dance teams) are offered mainly on-site with occasional arrangements for online work depending on learner needs and characteristics.
  6. The CoL@Home Family Resource Center in the colf.edu.ph will continue to be operational in the CoL@Home section of colf.edu.ph which is the private section for COL families of enrolled students.

How will attendance be handled?

The School for Children will monitor attendance based on the aforementioned days of school onsite or one online Friday. If your child will be absent from school, please send a message (Viber, SMS or email) to the child’s HOMEROOM teacher the night before or much earlier in the morning before the scheduled start of classes. The less disruptions to school attendance, the better for each student.

Students from the Lower School, 6s7s and special education classes are expected to stay home and rest for the now recommended 3-day quarantine. They are expected to return to school after.

For Middle (7s8s to 9s10s), Upper and High school students, this is applicable:

If a student is not feeling unwell even after testing positive for Covid19 or has been exposed to someone and must stay home, we expect that the parents and/or students will inform the Homeroom teachers. They will then receive specific instructions from their homeroom and subject teachers. Students staying home due to exposure or his or her own illness may be advised to do asynchronous work. Teachers are not expected to always open synchronous zoom sessions to enable one or two students to attend classes online.

In cases where there are several children who are home due to illness but are feeling well enough to attend classes, teachers may decide to open zoom classes.
