A Pancake Flippin’ Good Time: The Book Club Teach the 5s6s the Art of Pancake Making

The aroma of freshly cooked pancakes wafted through the air in the 5s6s room. A unique event, headed by Dakila Javier and Yli Lorenzo, that brought together two different age groups for a morning of culinary fun and bonding. Kuya Dakila and Kuya Yli had taken the role of mini chefs, teaching an eager 5s6s class how to cook banana pancakes.

Dakila and Yli started out by explaining interesting facts about bananas. Then, they enumerated the ingredients needed and read through the banana pancake recipe. Dakila and Yli demonstrated how to mix the batter, ensuring it was the right consistency. The 5s6s then had a go, their small hands gripping the whisk, willfully concentrating on the batter.

While the batter was being prepared, another small group of 5s6s kids prepared the bananas by slicing and mashing some. There was laughter and a few spills, but that was all part of the fun. Once the batter was ready, it was time to cook the pancakes and the room was filled with the smell of yummy pancakes and delighted giggles from the 5s6s. The Book Club members showed great patience and responsibility, while the 5s6s class displayed an eagerness to learn and a joy in the simple act of cooking. It was a heartwarming sight, a testament to the power of shared experiences and the joy of learning together. A day of fun learning, bonding and the sweet taste of pancakes.
